The Facelift Procedure

Posted on Oct 14, 2013 Facial Procedures, Plastic Surgery

Prior to any plastic surgery procedure, it is common to want to know what to expect. When it comes to a facelift, many people wonder what the procedure itself is like. Philadelphia plastic surgeon Dr. David Bottger offers our patients choices when it comes to facelift surgery, and ultimately these choices will impact what your procedure entails. However, all facelift procedures have some similar steps. To perform any type of facelift, Dr. Bottger will first need to make sure you are comfortable through either local anesthesia or intravenous sedation. What’s best for you will be based on your medical needs and other considerations. Once you have been made comfortable, Dr. Bottger will make the incisions necessary for the type of facelift you are having performed. Through these incisions, he will lift and reshape underlying tissue before removing unnecessary excess skin. Your incisions will then be closed before surgical dressing is applied. The facelift procedure can take anywhere from two to eight hours and you will need to arrange for a ride home after your procedure. What you can expect during recovery and how to help increase your comfort will be discussed during your initial consultation.

If you live in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area and are considering facelift surgery, please contact Dr. David Bottger today to schedule an initial consultation.
