Liposuction has become a popular procedure for candidates who are near their ideal body weight, with good skin and muscle tone but want to reshape stubborn areas. However, the questions that are always asked are how long does it take to recover from liposuction and what’s necessary to assure a successful recovery?

Your recovery is dependent on how many areas are treated during your surgery. You can expect bruising and swelling, but that will completely heal. Rest assured, Dr. David Bottger, a Philadelphia plastic surgeon will give you in depth preparation to assure your liposuction surgery and recovery are successful.

How Long before You Can Work or Exercise?

Most patients can return to light work within the first week and take a shower within a couple days. You can even begin light exercising after a week of the surgery. The bruising and swelling should disappear within 2 to 3 weeks.

You will probably be advised to wear a compression garment for two to three weeks. At three weeks, approximately 50% of the result will usually be evident. It takes approximately three months for the final appearance.

If you’re ready to finally take care of those stubborn areas and want to see how liposuction can help you, please contact Dr. David Bottger today. He serves patients in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area.
