an I Breast Feed After Breast Augmentation Surgery?

Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Also serving West Chester, Newton Square, and Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania

Breast augmentation should not significantly affect the ability to breast feed. The ability to breast feed successfully varies from woman to woman with or without implants. Incision placement may affect your ability to breast feed. Breast augmentation performed with incisions made under the fold of the breast or under the armpit will be the least problematic for breast feeding. Incisions near the areola are more problematic.

It is important for your nerves around the areola to remain intact in order to breast feed after surgery. These nerves release hormones that affect milk production. If they are severed during surgery, you most likely will not be able to breast feed.
