Recovery Period Like?
Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Also serving West Chester, Newton Square, and Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania
The initial healing process usually includes some degree of swelling, bruising and occasional eye irritation, characterized by increased tearing, blurring, and light sensitivity. Ice compresses, saline eye drops and occasionally nighttime lubricants will reduce these symptoms. Any non-dissolving sutures will be removed during the first week. Bruising will resolve in ten to fourteen days. Make-up may be used after a week to conceal bruising or early scar redness. During the first three weeks, strenuous activity such as sports or heavy lifting should be avoided.
You can generally return to work within ten days. However, you will not be fully healed at this point. Recovery from blepharoplasty varies from patient to patient, and for some, it may take several months before the final results are complete. After the majority of swelling subsides, you will generally notice a significant change in your appearance.
Philadelphia plastic surgeon Dr. David Bottger will provide you with detailed instructions for your follow-up care. It is important to follow these instructions carefully to ensure proper healing.
