Thigh Lift
Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Also serving Delaware, New Jersey, and Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania
The thigh lift procedure is designed to contour the inner thigh region. When there is good skin tone and only fat excess, liposuction alone can give good improvement to the medial thigh appearance. If, on the other hand, there is significant skin laxity or sagging as frequently occurs with massive weight loss or aging in general, liposuction alone will not give adequate improvement and a thigh lift will be necessary.
Procedure
The thigh lift may be done in one of two ways depending on the severity of the problem. If skin laxity is more mild to moderate a transverse skin excision can be accomplished in the upper thigh area, leaving the final scar within the groin crease. If the degree of skin laxity is excessive, as in the massive weight loss or gastric bypass patient, a larger vertically oriented skin excision will give a better result, although with a significantly longer scar along the medial thigh to the knee level.
Ideal Candidates
- Patients in good health with realistic expectation
- Patients who have undergone massive weight loss, such as with gastric bypass surgery, with resultant skin excess
- Patients with loss of skin tone and skin sagging secondary to aging
- Patients willing to accept the resultant scars
In/Out Patient
The thigh lift procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia and may require an overnight stay depending on the extent of the procedure.
Risks and Complications
Risks and complications of the thigh lift procedure include but are not limited to infection, bleeding (hematoma), numbness, unfavorable scarring and skin loss. Significant complications, although possible, are uncommon.
