Where Will The Incision Be Placed
For My Breast Augmentation?

Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Also serving West Chester, Newton Square, and Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania

During your consultation, Philadelphia plastic surgeon Dr. David Bottger will go over the choices available for the location of your incision. The type of incision will depend on several factors, including breast implant type, patient preference and individual anatomic characteristics, all of which will be discussed during your consultation.

Dr. Bottger prefers the following types of incisions for breast augmentation:

  • Inframammary – along the fold beneath the breast. The incision is only one to two inches long, and creates an easily concealed scar.
  • Periareolar – along the lower border of the areolar. Your scar will generally not be noticeable. However, this incision is not ideal for patients with small areolas or who want moderate to large size silicone gel implants.
